Purpose: Students will have the knowledge of Crisis Intervention, how to recognize if someone is in a crisis state, some common causes and some intervention techniques.  Students will demonstrate how to properly use the Intervention Concepts, Active Listening Skills and 8 standardized de-escalation techniques when handling anyone in a crisis state.

Purpose:

Research has demonstrated that the use of certain practices in criminal justice decision making can have a profound effect on reducing offender recidivism. One of these practices is the use of validated risk and needs assessment instruments to inform the decision-making process.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

Increase participants knowledge of MORRA risk based assessment system

Teach effective interview skills to attain information to complete assessment

Attain certification to be able to administer MORRA

Understand the importance of criminogenic needs and how they relate to recidivism

Who should attend: Staff that are in direct contact with offenders and are responsible for offender case management. Case Managers, Unit Managers, Institutional Probation and Parole staff, Board of Pardons and Parole.

Purpose: This nationally recognized training has very specific goals; increase officer safety, enhance professionalism and reduce complaints, vicarious liability and personal stress. The training provides officers with the principles and tactics to use "Presence of Words," to calm difficult people who maybe under severe emotional or other influences and diffuse potentially dangerous situations by redirecting hostile behavior.
