Purpose: Research has demonstrated that the use of certain practices in criminal justice decision making can have a profound effect on reducing offender recidivism. One of these practices is the use of validated risk and needs assessment instruments to inform the decision-making process. Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to: Increase participants knowledge of MORRA risk based assessment system Teach effective interview skills to attain information to complete assessment Attain certification to be able to administer MORRA Understand the importance of criminogenic needs and how they relate to recidivism Who should attend: Staff that are in direct contact with offenders and are responsible for offender case management. Case Managers, Unit Managers, Institutional Probation and Parole staff, Board of Pardons and Parole. |

Course Objectives: Students will review and discuss Taser information Students will demonstrate proper handling and shot placement Students will demonstrate deploying a Taser cartridge into a target Students will receive a power point handout Students will receive certifications at end of class. Dress: Duty dress & gear including Ballistic Vest. No firearms, ammunition or chemical agents allowed. Must bring safety/shooting glasses Safety: Students must wear safety glasses, mats will be provided. Available Credits: POST |
